Joanna Michaels

Joanna was born and raised in New Jersey. Prior to moving to Sarasota, she lived in Albany, NY where she was the HR Director for an agency that served adults with developmental disabilities. After years of singing into a hairbrush in front of her bedroom mirror, Joanna joined River Valley Sweet Adelines, an award-winning chorus. In 1994, after her mystery novel, "Nun in the Closet" was published, Joanna attended grooming school in St. Petersburg, moved to Sarasota and opened a pet-grooming business. In 2003 she earned a BA in Creative Writing from Eckerd College, followed by a Master's Degree from Queen's University of Charlotte. She now works part-time for Petco and spends the rest of her time writing. She is single and lives with three rowdy dogs, a cat and a beta fish.
