Lydia Johnston

Soprano II (2008)
Lydia was born in the Bronx but grew up in Sarasota after relocating from NY at the age of one. She started singing for her family at an early age and continued actively singing until the birth of her daughter. Erica in 1989. Lydia sang with her church choir, school chorus and was very involved with the YFC Valiants and the small YFC folk group, Freefolk. During high school she traveled the county performing and competing with these groups. She attended MCC and USF as a vocal performance major. She also sang with both Gloria Musicae and Key Chorale in addition to being the soprano soloist with the First Presbyterian Church in Sarasota. Lydia also sang as a soloist and chorus member at the Asolo, Golden Dinner Theater, Van Wetzel and the Players of Sarasota. She has been married to her husband Fred for “many” years and has spent the last 23 years working as the Human Resources and Safety Director for a local road construction company. She feels that Diversity has been a fun and rewarding way to reacquaint her with singing and performing.
Hobbies: Boating, water skiing, singing.
